On Wednesday, March 4, 2020 LIMBIC-CENC Principal Investigator Dr. David Cifu was joined by Research Coordinators Katie Thompson and Joe Montanari to represent LIMBIC-CENC at “Brain Injury Awareness Day on Capitol Hill” presented by the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force. Brain injury advocates from across the country attended the event to discuss the effects of brain injury, research being conducted to study it, and resources available for survivors and their families.
The day centered around an awareness fair, where attendees had the opportunity to interact with TBI survivors and families, along with other organizations dedicated to studying and improving quality of life for TBI survivors. Congressman Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), founder and co-chair of the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force, was on hand to meet with attendees and answer their questions. Guests also had the opportunity to hear from a panel of TBI experts in research, policy, programming, and advocacy. The day concluded with a reception for attendees.
The Congressional Brain Injury Task Force is designed to promote the funding of the TBI Act, as well as other brain injury research. To learn more about the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force, click Here.
